Yashshvi

A few days back, we got to know that ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and Biotech are going to be in partnership for developing India’s very first vaccination for COVID-19. Therefore, this information was known after a conversation letter between ICMR and Biotech leaked out. Ergo, the information claimed that the vaccine is going to come in India till August 15th, 2020. However, the letter was only for the conversation between ICMR and Biotech but still, it came out and each and every person got to know about that.

ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) recently said that the vaccine is named as Covaxin. Moreover, ICMR claimed that this vaccine is going to be tested on 375 people in Phase 1, on 750 people in the subsequent phase, in total more than 1000 people are going to be tested. The indigenous COVID-19 vaccine has received a nod from DGCI (Drug Controller General of India) that the vaccine can now go for the Phase 1 and 2 trials.

ICMR has selected a total of 12 medical institutes and they are the ones going to start the clinical trials this week only. Earlier, AIIMS-Patna Superintendent, Dr. CM Singh said that the clinical trials would start in the next two days only. Therefore, the vaccine trials are in process of completion of some guidelines and formalities that are related to logistics and some other procedures. One of the best and good news is that this vaccine named Covaxin has successfully cleared the animal trial and now is ready for the human phase trial. In the first phase, it is going to test 1000 people, the second will have a larger number of people and the production will ultimately depend on the final outcome of the study. Therefore, the estimated trial period of the vaccine is expected to be 6 to 8 months.

Probing further, to have faster outcomes, the medical institutes have asked for fast track the clinical trials and make this research the topmost priority of the medical institutes. Ergo, Hyderabad-based Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) claimed yesterday that they have started enrolling the participants for the first stage trial.

This is good news for all the people that Covaxin is there to start the human trials. Stay connected to have more information.
