BCCI Selected MS Dhoni for Padma Bhushan Award

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, MS Dhoni has been chosen by for the country’s third highest civilian award, i.e.  The Padma Bhushan – award, for his contribution to the cricket game. SA senior BCCI official told that the BCCI has only propelled one name for the Padma awards current year. It was an agreed verdict to nominate India’s most victorious captain.

BCCI acting president CK Khanna told media  “MS Dhoni has been selected by the BCCI for the Padma Bhushan award. It was a collective decision by the members. He has been one of the greatest names in popular cricket and the most suitable selection of the Indian cricket board.”

Achievements

MS Dhoni’s credentials are faultless, and as the only Indian captain with two World titles counting 2011 50-over Cricket World Cup along with 2007 World T20, the BCCI did not have to consider over probable names.

 C K Khanna added “MS Dhoni is one of our supreme ODI cricketers with near 10,000 runs. Few players have played 90 Test matches. There is no one superior to him, who could have been selected.”

The 36-year-old, MS Dhoni has attained 9737 runs in 302 ODIs in addition 4,876 runs in 90 Test matches. He has also played almost 78 T20 Internationals, scoring up to  1212 runs.

MS Dhoni has 16 international hundreds (6 in Tests along with 10 in ODIs) and  100 international half-centuries.

MS Dhoni, as a wicketkeeper, has held 584 catches crosswise formats, i.e. 256 in Tests, 285 in ODI as well as 43 in T20 Internationals. He has also affected 163 stumpings.

MS Dhoni is by now a receiver of the high-status Arjuna, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna plus the Padma Shri award. MS Dhoni will turn out to be the 11th Indian cricketer to acquire the third highest civilian honor after he has been awarded with Padma Bhushan.

Several prominent international cricketers, who have been the receiver list of Padma Bhushan award comprises Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar,  Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid, Prof DB Deodhar, Chandu Borde, Col CK Nayudu, plus Lala Amarnath.

The lesser recognised names comprise Raja Bhalindra Singh of Patiala, who partake 13 first-class matches.   Also includes Vijaya Anand,  the Maharaja of Vizianagaram, who was India’s captain all through their 1936 tour to England.
