Chandigarh is one of the most beautiful cities in India but day by day people are making the beautiful city dirty. Why is the city becoming dirty?
Due to the littering of waste here and there the city is becoming very much dirty. Littering is not a cause but it is a major concern all over the world. Recently, the sanitation department of Chandigarh has taken strict actions. The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh said that we are going to impose littering charges. Around Rs. 10,000 fine will be imposed on the people who will litter waste.
In September 2018, the city administration of Chandigarh Solid Waste management suggested taking heavy fines for the offenders. The littering fine was Rs. 500 but now it has revised to 5,000 for the house owners and 10,000 for the business owners.
According to the updates, the chief of Chandigarh administration said he is going to start an anti-littering campaign from 1st April 2019.
First Day:- of this anti-littering campaign around 40 Challans were taken from the defaulters in the commercial areas. The areas from where these Challans were imposed were mainly restaurants and food eating points. The fines were imposed on them for littering the waste in public areas. The fines were imposed on people after taking pictures of the trash. Around 40 Challans, were imposed on people for using plastic.
On the second day also, 40% of people were fined for littering the waste in the public areas and around 7% of people were fined for using polybags.
After, seeing the situation of the CITY BEAUTIFUL the Medical Officer of Health, Amrit Pal Singh said in an interview that, “OUR AIM IS NOT TO EARN MONEY BUT TO AWARE PEOPLE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT LITTER GARBAGE HERE AND THERE”. He added by saying that “PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THE INTENTIONS BEHIND THIS ANTI-LITTERING ACT OF OURS”.
SO LET’S TAKE A STEP IN MAKING CHANDIGARH BEAUTIFUL AGAIN BY NOT LITTERING ANYTHING HERE AND THERE.
