Glorious Performance of India In Paris Paralympics 2024

India’s basket is full of medals in Paris Paralympics 2024. The list of wins has surpassed the country’s performance in this year’s Olympics. India is taking part in the Paralympics for the 13th time this year. The performances of the bunch of jewels in almost every field of the Paralympics are genuinely a matter of pride for the country.

The participants from India under various sports events is 84. Moreover, the flagbearers of the ceremony were Sumit Antil and Bhagyashree Jadhav. This year, the Paralympics started on 28th August and will continue till 8th September 2024.

24 Medals in India’s Favour in Paralympics

This year, the performance of the Paralympics is astonishing and has even crossed the expectations of the Olympics. India already has a record of winning 19 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. However, in 2024, the number of medals touched 24 to date. This is a sign of great success for the country as well as the players.

Among 24 medals, 10 are bronze, 9 are silver, and 5 are gold. Undoubtedly, the country has performed far better in the Paralympics than in the Olympics. The winner of the first gold medal for India was Avani Lekhara in the event of the 10m Air Rifle Shoot for Women. With this, Lekhara became the first woman in India to win consecutive gold medals in the Paralympics. Besides, this year, in the same sports, the bronze medal came in the lap of the nation with the hands of Mona Agarwal.

Glorious Winners In Different Events

The second gold came in Badminton with Kumar Nitesh’s outstanding performance. At the same time, Sumit Antil turned out to be the first athlete from India (male) to win multiple gold medals in the Paralympics for the same event. Indeed, with the 2024 performance, Antil created two consecutive records. Club Throw F51 event under Athletics category saw Pranav Soorma to be another champion with the prestigious Silver medal.

Moreover, this year, Harvinder Singh got the gold for archery. He was the bronze medal winner for the 2020 Paralympics. India got its silver for the Singles SL4 (Men) Para-Badminton Event, with Suhas Yathiraj being the winner. Sharad Kumar is the silver medal winner of the Men’s High Jump (T63). In the event of Javelin Throw F46, Sundar Singh Gurjar has brought bronze, whereas Ajeet Singh Yadav is the silver medal winner. The first silver medalist for Badminton (Women) category is Thulasimathi Murugesan.

Dharambir Nain is another proud gold medal winner for Athletics in the event of Club Throw F51. On the other hand, Manish Narwal won Silver in Shooting for the event Men’s P1 10m Air Pistol SH1. Deepthi Jeevanji is the Bronze medal winner in the Women’s 400m T20 event, thus showing that girls are also stars this year. Deepthi broke records and became the youngest track medalist from India in the Paralympic Games.

The proud winners of the Mixed Team Compound event in the category of Archery were Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar. Moreover, it is a matter of great pride that Sheetal became the youngest Paralympic winner in this category. Sachin Khilari is a silver medalist of 2024 Men’s shot put F46. India’s first woman to win a track medal for athletics is Preethi Pal. She became the bronze medal winner for the 100m T35 event for Women.

2024 Turned To Be A Year of Success

After 2020, the Paris Paralympics of 2024 turned out to be the Year of Success for Indians. Paralympic participants and medalists proved that they are not less than anybody. The skills and talent hidden inside the gems gave India a new avenue to prepare for the next Paralympic Games. The winners of the last Paralympics showed better performances. In many instances, we found that Bronze winners have hit the bull’s eye with the glamorous gold medals in the same categories. With the breaking of multiple records, the Paralympics 2024 resulted in an excellent year for India.
